In 2012 for the first time the Organizing Committee will be running a virtual event to mirror the real event: The ISAF Youth Virtual Sailing World Championships. This Virtual Worlds will be run in SailX.com the award-winning inshore sailboat racing and training environment and will consist of a virtual fleet-race regatta that is OPEN TO EVERYONE regardless of age and sailing skills.

Internationally she first made an impact and was seriously noticed back at the 2007 Optimist World Championships, when she achieved the best ever result of an Austrian sailor, finishing tenth overall and the second best placed girl helm.

Zaoli Sails of Italy have partnered with Nautivela, who are the official 420 suppliers to the ISAF Youth World Sailing Championship, to provide brand new sails free of charge to all competing teams.

Thirty teams were on the startline, racing on the same waters of Lake Neusiedlersee in Austria for the 420 Spring Cup from 26-28 May 2012. It is these same waters which will host the 2012 420 World Championships from 27 July- 5 August 2012.

Hosted by Kieler Yacht Club, the 2012 Young Europeans Sailing took place from 26-28 May 2012, with results determining the German teams going to the ISAF Youth Sailing World Championship, as well as being part of the team selection process for the 420 Worlds and 420 Europeans.

Taking place from 9-17 August 2012 at Fraglia Vela Riva, the 2012 420 Junior European Championships will attract the best teams from around Europe and beyond.

The Dutch 420 Championship was organised during the Dutch Youth Regatta from the 17-20 May 2012 in Workum.
It was a large international field with boats from the Netherlands, Germany, Austria, Belgium and France. Goedhart/van Stekelenborg had a lot of competition from the Belgian team with Thomas van den Bossche/Vince Dergent. But in the last three races the Dutch duo clearly took a distance with three race wins in a row, which brought them the Championship title.

Twenty one teams contested the second edition of the Mediterranean Sailing Meeting hosted by the Club Nàutic El Balis from 12-13 May 2012. Thirteen open and 8 girls’ teams raced, in what was a fierce event, which also marked the final decider for the Spanish teams which would be selected to compete at the 2012 420 World Championships in Austria.

The 420 Championship season kicks off with the 2012 420 World and Ladies World Championships from 27 July-5 August at the venue of the National Sailing Training Institute in Neusiedl am See, Lake Neusiedl, Austria. The Austrian Sailing Training Institute is a state-of-the-art purpose built sailing centre right at the edge of Lake Neusiedl.
