Last year’s champions showcased their skills on the final day of the RYA Volvo Youth Nationals as Craig Dibb/Charlie Cox displayed signs of excellence across the four days of racing as they defended their RYA Volvo Youth National crown at Clwb Hwylio Pwllheli Sailing Club.

Sunshine and a steady 8-12 knots greeted the 390 sailors vying for Championship honours on Thursday, as the nation’s future Olympians took to the water for a cracking penultimate day of competition at the RYA Volvo Youth National Championships 2012.
Spanish 420 National Championships underway

75 teams are competing in the Spanish National Championships hosted by Club Nautico Portosin from 2-8 April 2012. Three races have so far been completed and it is the team of Carlos Castelao/Jorge Lorenzo who are in the lead with a 1,3,2 scoreline. In second overall and top girls’ team are Adriana Rodes/Lucy Brugman who carry 10 points with a 3,4,3.

Wet and windy conditions at Clwb Hwylio Pwllheli Sailing Club scuppered the chance of any sailing on day three of the RYA Volvo Youth National Championships 2012 with racing being postponed across the six Youth classes.

Last year’s 420 RYA Volvo Youth National Champions, turned on the style in some extremely challenging and chaotic conditions as the duo posted what was undoubtedly the performance of day two out in Cardigan Bay on Tuesday 3 April.
Day 1 at the RYA Youth Nationals

In the highly competitive 420 fleet, sailors had their first race abandoned in the fickle conditions which led to the sailors completing only two of the three scheduled races. Local sailor Toby Morsley from Port Dinorwic SC and his crew Matt Wallis currently sit top of the leader board with four points after posting 1-3, leaving them two points in front of last year’s runner up Tim Riley, who is now sailing with his younger brother, Ed.

420 teams are preparing to descend on Clwb Hwylio Pwllheli Sailing Club for the RYA's premier Youth Racing event. Starting this weekend, a record number of the nation’s top Youth sailors lock horns out on the Welsh waters of Cardigan Bay, hosted by Clwb Hwylio Pwllheli Sailing Club, for the chance to be crowned RYA Volvo Youth National Champion 2012.

British 420 Spring Championships

Thirty-five 420 teams contested the British 420 Spring Championships held over the weekend of 17-18 March 2012, and hosted by the Weymouth and Portland National Sailing Academy. Saturday delivered four races, with just one deciding race held on Sunday.
