No wind, no racing on day 1 of USA ISAF Youth Worlds Qualifier

Day 1 of the US Sailing ISAF Youth World Qualifier hosted by the Alamitos Bay Yacht Club had everything but wind on Saturday.
Not a single race start could be held among the four classes on two courses which left 120 teenage sailors on 90 boats from across the country drifting in frustration.

Despite a final race day which saw the team have their worst day of the regatta a 4,4,3, having posted four bullets in the preceding seven races, their points margin was so significant they easily retained their overall lead. The final day of racing provided some thrilling races, in a northerly ranging from 16-18 knots.

After a successful 2011 for Britain’s youth sailors entries for the 2012 RYA Volvo Youth National Championships, the premier event on the RYA Youth Racing calendar, are now open.

Twenty teams contested the Open Orange Bowl Regatta hosted by Coconut Grove Sailing Club, Florida, USA from 27-30 December 2011.
The event incorporated the International 420 Class North American Championships. Winds gusted over 20 knots on Biscayne Bay during the first two days of the regatta and dropped to less than 8 knots the final two day of sailing making challenging conditions for all sailors.

Host venue, the Annapolis Yacht Club was humming with the sounds of Junior Sailors from all across the United States, with twenty-two boats competing from 18-22 November 2011, making it one of the largest 420 regattas in recent memory.
