2012 Spangler Cup
The 2012 Spangler Cup was raced over 5-6 May, hosted by the Union Yacht Club Wolfgangsee in Austria. Twenty-one 420 teams contested the event, but it was really a race between two boats, with Stefan Scharnagl/Adrian Schalli and Bernhardt Haan/Christoph Koller taking it to the final race.
On equal points after the first two races, with a win and second place apiece, they went into the final race with 1 point between them, and finished with one point between them to the advantage of Stefan Scharnagl/Adrian Schalli.
Top girl’s team in fourth place overall were Laura Schöfegger/Anna Leitner who sailed a solid series, including a win in the final race.
A brief thunderstorm on Saturday was the only weather challenge to the teams, in what were otherwise perfect conditions.
Racing also took place for the Optimist and Zoom 8.
