15 teams faced off for National Championship

Many of the same faces who had contended the 420 South American Championship were back on the start line, and for Daniel Lombardi/Gabriel Sequeira (BRA) it was a successful delivery of back to back Championship victories. Their scoreline placed the pair consistently in the top 3, including four race wins.

However, it was a drawn out battle to the end, with any of the top three teams in with a shout at the Championship title. Fighting hard were Tiago Brito/Andrei Kneipp (BRA) who gave it their best and won the final race 10, but left themselves 2 points off victory, with Lombardi/Sequeira finishing third. A fifth place for Bernardo Penteado/Breno Abdulklech safely gave them the bronze medal.

Racing as one fleet, but with separate Championship titles awarded for the girls’ fleet, it was another good series for Claudia MazzaferroLuiza Peiter (BRA) who were fresh from their 420 South American victory. They positioned themselves in an advantageous position over the double-Brazilian Champion of 2012, Isabele Boiler/Julia Pessini (BRA) who finished as second women and 6th overall.
