Oct 2019

This years ACCs was classic fall New England conditions - that is.... always a surprise.

Sailors were challenged with light and shifty conditions on Saturday and then sporty 18-25+ knots, driving rain and 4-6 foot seas on Sunday.

Racing was close, with the top 5 boats separated by just 7 points in the 6-race regatta.

Congrats to Justin & Mitchell Callahan who took two bullets in the wet and gusty racing on Sunday to eek out the win just ahead of the two talented women's teams who were tied for second on points.

On the Podium
1. Justin & Mitchell Callahan
2. Hannah Freeman / Francesca Edmands
3. Vanessa Lahrkamp / Katherine McNamara

Congrats to Tommy Sitzmann/Robby Meek who took home the "Green Team" award for the top team with less than 12 months in the boat. This was their first I420 regatta and they handled the conditions and competition with skill and fortitude.

The weekends' varied conditions showcased the strength of the I420 as a terrific class for sailors of all sizes/genders who can be highly competitive in conditions from 3-5 knots and flat water to 25+ knots and rolling seas. 2/3's of the podium finishers, and half of the top 10 teams were women.

Thanks to an outstanding effort by regatta host Indian Harbor YC for a terrific event, including top notch RC efforts in the challenging conditions.
