420 EUROPEANS OPENING CEREMONY TO BE HOSTED AT STAVROS NIARCHOS FOUNDATION CULTURAL CENTER

The Opening Ceremony of the 420 Open European Championship will be hosted in the grounds of the prestigious Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center (SNFCC) located by the athletic marina.

ALL EVENT INFORMATION

The Opening Ceremony for the 2017 420 Open European Championships will kick off at 20:00 hours on Monday 24 July. It will take place at the grounds of SNFCC (Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center) where all teams will be welcomed to the Championships and to Greece.

The Opening Ceremony will be followed by a Reception with buffet at the Lighthouse of the SNFCC at 2045 hours.

All teams are requested to bring their national flags, their mascots and any other national identity items to celebrate with, at the Opening Ceremony. The required nation placard will be given to the teams by the Organizing Authority at the registration.

All athletes, sailors, coaches and team leaders are welcomed to be accompanied by their family and their friends.

All participants are strongly recommend to leave the Championship venue by 1930 hours at the latest, to have sufficient time to arrive at the Opening Ceremony venue which is located at the SNFCC’s Agora and Canal (see map above).

If departing from the NOTK venue it is recommended to use the esplanade bridge to approach the Canal of the SNFCC.

There will be an open double-decker bus which will depart from the NOTK approximately 45 minutes before the Opening Ceremony. On the bus will be holders of the national flags. The bus will drive across the high street of the city of Kallithea to the Stavros Niarchos Foundation  Cultural Center, arriving in time to meet up withthe teams for the parade.

At 2000 hours the 420 Teams will be welcomed by Organizing Committee representatives and should gather by their nation placard and flags which will be carried by team members. The parade will start from point A (see the  dotted line in the map below) along the Canal.

At 2045 hours there will be a Reception with buffet at the SNFCC Lighthouse, which enjoys a view of the Lighthouse crowned by an unsupported 40m high mast, resembling a giant ship ready to sail off into the Aegean..  The venue can be approached via the escalators situated by the entrance of the building or via the Stavros Niarchos Park.
