BIG SUCCESS FOR 420 CLASS SHOWCASE AT OPTIMIST EASTER REGATTA
Three days, 29-31 March 2018, of introducing the 420 Class to the next generation of Optimist Sailors at the Optimist Easter Regatta hosted at Fraglia Vela Riva has been a huge success.
With over 1,400 sailors from around the world competing at the iconic Optimist Easter Regatta, the stage was perfect to introduce the 420 Class to the Optimist sailors, parents and coaches.
Light winds dominated the Lake Garda race track on 31 March, not so good for racing but a perfect opportunity for sailors to come and chat to the on-site 420 Class Representative and get to know the 420 Class, as they all headed to the sailors tent before and after racing.
As well as being introduced to the boat, the skills sets which will be develolped by sailing the class and worldwide racing and training programmes, parents and coaches were also enlightened on the accessible price of the 420 - EUR7,500 ready to sail. Compared to most other two-person dinghies for a similar age group, the 420 Class is proven to most probably be the most accessible choice based on price, ease of transition, youth engagement and worldwide availability.
Next up the International 420 Class will run a clinic for the continent of Oceania in New Zealand from 24 April to 1 May 2018.
