DAY 4 AT THE 420 CLASS COACHES AND SAILORS CLINIC IN SOUTH AFRICA TAKES A LOOK AT BOAT TUNING
On to day 4 at the 420 Class Coaches and Sailors Clinic at Hermanus Yacht Club in South Africa and today head coach Michalis Mileos (GRE) shifted the focus onto boat tuning.
Taking place from 22-26 September, the Clinic is all about sharing knowledge and improving skills, all of which is being embraced by the participating coaches and sailors.
The boat tuning was run as a classroom session, before moving to practical demonstrations in the boat park. Out on the water for the afternoon session, sailors applied their new knowledge to put into practice the tuning skills and recap on all the new skills they have acquired so far, including tacking, gybing, mark rounding and starting techniques.
Thursday 26 September will be the final day, including a mini-regatta and presentation of certifications of achievement for all participants.
The Clinic is a mix of on-water sessions, lectures, exercises and presentations as detailed in the Clinic Programme and General Conditions for full information. As with all the 420 Class development initiatives, registration to the Coaches and Sailors Clinic in South Africa is free of charge, with participants just needing to cover costs for their travel, accommodation and daily meals.
Thanks to Allen Brothers, who sponsor the 420 Class Development Programme, and provide a full set of boat fittings for every one of our 420 Class Coaches and Sailors Clinics.
