Three days of relatively moderate conditions, as predicted culminated in a big breeze for the fourth and final day. At its peak, the wind averaged 20kts with gusts up to 35kts. Due to the stronger conditions the Optimist, RS Feva and 2.4mR race track were based in the more sheltered Repulse Bay, and the Laser 4.7, Laser Radial, 29er and 420 race track moved to Stanley Bay. Even with the move of race tracks to the more sheltered areas, there were quite a few capsizes and retirements recorded throughout the day and some fleets sent back to the shore as the wind speed exceeded the class limit. Challenging and exciting conditions for the 420 fleet.

A line-up of six Hong Kong teams faced off in the 420 Class fleet, with Hong Kong’s Eloi Defline/Thibault Minnie coming out four points ahead of Duncan Gregor/Matthew Clark (HKG) after a very close battle that took place over 12 races, with either team taking first or second place in every race.

Behind the leading two teams, rounding the podium out in third were Matthew Cheng/MingKit Walter Seto (HKG).
