Great sailing conditions to close the first half of the Junior Europeans in Formia

Nice 9-12 knots of wind enlightened the third day of races today at the 2021 420 & 470 Junior European championships in Formia, Italy.

Two new races were added to scores so the Qualifying series concludes with 6 races for the 420 Open fleet.

The 420 U17 fleet have reached 5 races now. 12 single series races are scheduled on this championship.

The 470 fleets will sail 11 single series races plus a Medal race for the top ten and a last race for those ranked 11th and beyond. Both 470 championships have reached 7 races now in total.

The 2021 420 Men/Mixed vice champions Ange Delerce / Timothee Rossi FRA are showing a terrific performance this days, winning 5 of the 6 races held and leading the 420 Open competition with 5 points. Fernando Flethes / Carlos Flethes ESP are second with 17. Third place for the 2021 420 Women’s World champions Vanessa Lahrkamp / Katherine McNamara USA with 24.

Severin Gericke / Xaver Schwarz GER are the new 420 Under 17 leaders with 13 points, followed by two Spanish teams formed by Jaime Ayarza / Mariano Hernandez ESP and Maria Perello / Marta Cardona ESP with 17 and 27 units respectively.

470 results

The 470 fleet has Niclas Lehmann / Niklas Haberl AUT and Jacobo Garcia / Javier Mestre ESP draw with 15 points on the top of fleet.

The 470 Mixed championship is comfortably led now by Marco Gradoni / Alessandra Dubbini ITA with 9.

The event will run until Saturday 31st.
