The boat park has been buzzing with anticipation before the start of racing and it is finally here. While everyone has mingled and chatted, it is now the chance for the young sailors to test themselves against other great sailors from around the world on the water, in the hope that they can come out on top and take home the gold.

As the record attendance of sailors' head out to the water, the fleets, including the inaugural race of the 29er girl's fleet, will be bathed in sunshine with temperatures hovering around the 30 degree mark all day.

As for the wind, sailors can expect an easterly breeze of 17 knots to start the day which will slowly drop to around 12-14 knots as the day goes on. As the breeze drops, the gusts follow suit as they drop through the day. Light current, giving relatively flat water also awaits the young racers.

All sailors will be looking to get a jump on their competitors with a good start and high finishes to set up their week.

The SL16 fleet will not be racing on Tuesday due to a shipping delay in advance of competition. The full quota of equipment is due to arrive within the next 24 hours. Racing is scheduled to commence on 30 December and the fleet will sail the races missed from Tuesday throughout the week.
