Japan gearing up to host 420 Coaches' Clinic
Japan, host of the 2015 420 World and Ladies World Championships from 17-25 July, is all set to upgrade the knowledge of Japanese coaches and coaches from the Asian region when it hosts a 420 Coaches' clinic in Castle Bay Karatsu, venue for this year's 420 World and Ladies World Championships.
The International 420 Class is partnering with the Japan 420 Class Association to run the clinic and has appointed the renowned coach Steve Keen to lead the four-day clinic from 9-12 April 2015.
The clinic will cover the fundamental role of a coach, as well as on water sessions, training techniques, sports science, and racing rules. Boat preparation, tuning, boat handling and race strategies will also be discussed.
Steve Keen is head coach at LISOT (Long Island Sound Youth Sailing Team) and has been instrumental in the development of two-person youth sailing and leading 420 sailing initiatives in the United States. In 2013, Keen's outstanding contribution to youth sailing was recognised by US Sailing, the national governing body for sailing in the United States, when he was awarded the 2012 Development Coach of the Year Award.
