Light wind conditions on fifth day of racing at the 2021 420 & 470 Junior Europeans

Light wind conditions were not an impediment to hold 3 new races at the 2021 420 & 470 Junior European championships in Formia, Italy.

The 470 class had already reached 9 races yesterday so they have only sailed 2 today, leaving the last 12th race for tomorrow.

The 420 Open fleet counts now 9 races in total. 8 races for the U17. Last races are coming tomorrow to decide our 2021 Junior European champions!

420 results

The 420 Open’s top place is still in hands of the recent 2021 420 Men/Mixed vice champions Ange Delerce / Timothee Rossi FRA with 33 points, now closely followed by Roy Levi / Tomer Sasson ISR and Fernando Flethes / Carlos Flethes ESP with 43 and 44 respectively.

Jaime Ayarza / Mariano Hernandez ESP are leading the 420 U17 fleet with 42 points, escorted on provisional podium by Colin Postel / Aristide Delin FRA and Marc Mesquida / Ramon Jaume ESP, both with 48 units.

470 results

Niclas Lehmann / Niklas Haberl AUT continue to govern the 470 fleet with 25, followed by Jacobo Garcia / Javier Mestre ESP with 31.

The 470 Mixed championship shows a tight dispute for the first spot between Maria Bover / Fernando Rodriguez ESP and Marco Gradoni / Alessandra Dubbini ITA only separated by one point.


Schedule for tomorrow is the following:

10:30 - coaches and sailors meeting at the tent
10:45 - presentation for the boats participating in the Medal Races

420 class

420 U17 fleet, 420 Gold fleet and 420 Silver fleet will sail at Race Area Alpha
12:30 - first warning signal Intending starting order:
* 420 U17 fleet
* 420 Gold fleet
* 420 Silverfleet
The intention of the Race Committee is to complete 3races for each fleet.

470 class

470 class will sail at Race Area Bravo
Last Race 13:00 - first warning signal
Medal Races
14:00 - warning signal 470 Mixed
14:45 - warning signal 470 Open
