OFF-THE-BEACH RACING AT GEORGE MAC REGATTA IN AUSTRALIA
The George Mac Regatta brings together off-the-beach sailors of all ages from around the bay and interstate. Invited classes include all junior and youth classes, along with a variety of monhull open classes including 470, 420, 29er, 49er, FX, 2.4mR, Finn, Laser 4.7, Laser Radial and Laser Open.
Linus Talacko/Lachie Grogan dominated the 420 fleet with three race wins, and a discarded third place to take victory, with no look-in for the rest. Second to James Jackson/Lachie Caldwell and third to Matilda Richardson/Lily Richardson.
The historic George Mac regatta has been a long-term fixture on the Royal Brighton Yacht Club after being founded as an annual event to honour the late George “Nugget” McCallum. 2015 marked the relaunch of the event as a multi-class off-the-beach regatta for all age groups. Prizes are awarded within each division, with the winner of the junior division being awarded the prestigious George McCallum Cup.
