Evert Jan van Garderen, 420 Chairman in the Netherlands, writes: “This Thursday, 13 May, the Open Dutch National Championship for the 420 Class will start near Workum on the IJsselmeer, the Netherlands. 32 teams will compete for the title Open Dutch National Champion, which this year for the first time since a number of years is again available due to a fast growing 420 fleet in The Netherlands. For many years there was only a Class Championship. Also competitors from Austria, Belgium and Switzerland are participating. This Championship is held during the Dutch Youth Regatta, which this year is hosting almost 500 boats in various youth classes, like Optimist and Laser.

“The selection for the teams who will represent The Netherlands at the ISAF Worlds in Turkey will also take place during this event. It is expected to be a very exciting regatta as there are a number of candidates for the title and for becoming member of the Dutch team at the ISAF Worlds. Participants will sail 14 races during 4 days until Sunday 16 May”. All information can be found on the Dutch Youth Regatta and on the Dutch 420 Class websites.:
