Portugal and Great Britain take out victory at GAES Christmas Race
The 40th GAES Christmas Race comes to an end in the Bay of Palamós, Spain with an astonishing day with Garbí south-west wind around 11 knots increasing up to 22.
Three races were sailed on the final day making up for the days the fleet had stay ashore during the first three days of the competition. The event was a real test of patience and nerves, with just 5 races sailed across the five days of racing.
Two race wins to Isabel Davies/Gemma Keers in the 24 boat 420 fleet, easily gave them the lead, with María Bover/Clara Llabrés (ESP) in second and Clara Olivé/Lea Carpentier (FRA) in third.
In the 420 Boys, Diogo Costa/Pedro Costa (POR) asserted themselves from race 2, and having discarded their 9th place in race 1, counted a 1,2,1,2 scorecard to win by 10 points over Noam Bloch/Antoine Cholley (FRA). On a tiebreak equal 16 points with the French, were Marta Torner/Enrique Mir (ESP) in third.
