SARAH BURN/GABBY DELBELLO TAKE OUT US 420 MID-WINTERS CHAMPIONSHIP
An impressive 31 teams lined up for the 2019 USA 420 Mid-Winters Championship hosted at Miami Yacht Club, 16-18 February for three days of generally light to moderate conditions, mostly sunny skies and typical warm mid-winter conditions.
Sarah Burn/Gabby Delbello strung together a tremendous score line, including 4 bullets and only one race out of the top 3, to win the 420 Midwinters ably establishing an impressive 16-point margin in the 31-boat fleet. The women were fast on all points of sail and dominated the fleet over the three-day, 10-race series.
Max Anker/Trevor Bornarth finished second, helped by consistent finishes across the 10 races. And Liam O’Keefe/Libby Redmond posted strong finishes of 1-2-1 on the final day to move up onto the podium and take the tiebreaker for third.
This Championship was the final US qualifier of the year for the International 420 Class World Championship and 420 Junior European Championship.
