At the midway stage of the Semana Internacional del Yachting in Mar del Plata, Argentina the early leaders have cemented their spot at the top of the leader board after three days of variable conditions. To date, the competitors have enjoyed a classic thermal north east wind, a southerly breezy second day greeted competitors whilst the third day a gusty westerly wind made life complicated for the competitors competing across ten fleets.
Augustin Romero/Jacobs Fermin (ARG) Lead at Halfway Stage
With 8 races now completed in the 420 fleet and one discard it remains close amongst the top three teams, with just 6 points between them.
Five race wins have positioned Romero Augustin/Fermin Jacobs at the front of the pack, but the holders of the other three race wins, Martin Cloos/Brian Higgins are just 5 points behind with a score of 17 points. In third place on 18 points are Nicolas di Giovanni/Franco Gentile.
Twelve 420 teams are contesting the regatta which is co-organized by the Club Nautico Mar del Plata and the Yacht Club Argentino, with racing continuing on Friday 15 February and Saturday 16 February after Thursday’s rest day.
