Thirty Teams Contest Italian 420 Women's National Championships
Dedicated to promoting women's 420 sailing in Italy, where more usually, teams race in an open fleet format, the Italian 420 Women's National Championships features the nation's best young sailors.
Hosted at Club Nautico Pescare, on Italy's Adriatic coastline, from 30 October-1 November, thirty 420 teams contested 8 races.
A challenging opening day saw the Mistral breeze kick in, to challenge teams with a 16 knot breeze and significant waves, with 2 races completed. All change for the next two days with 9-11 knots of breeze, under a sunny sky.
After an opening day scoreline of 9,4, the bronze medallists at the 2015 420 Ladies Junior European Championship, Demi Rio/Maria Coluzzi, soon found their groove and knocked out an awesome scoreline of 6 back to back race wins. The pair secured victory by a 10 point margin over Carlotta Omari/Matilda Distefano in second, with Lisa Sartori/Sofia Chincarini in third.
