Carmen and Emma won both qualifying regattas - the 420 North American Championships and 420 Mid-Winters - to earn their right to defend their title at the Youth Worlds. JC and Walter earned their qualification based on a 2nd place finish at the 420 Mid-Winters, which resulted in winning a tie-breaker over the two-regatta qualifying format.

Corpus Christi will host the 48th edition of the Youth Worlds, welcoming the world's best youth sailors from more than 60 nations.

To compete at the 2018 Youth Worlds, sailors must be under the age of 19 years old on the 31st December 2018 and be nominated by their Member National Authority (MNA).

The championship attracts only the best youth sailors from around the world and competition is notoriously tough as competitors are selected by their Member National Authority (MNA) from a host of eligible sailors within each nation.
