Verdino & Brizuela triumph at Campeonato Argentino
Francisco Sucari & Francisco Renna, following their 7th place in the 420 Europeans in Istanbul in July, were on good form with 30 points, but not quite good enough to take their rivals, Bruno Verdino & Tirso Sanchez Brizuela, the 2007 Argentine Champions, by 11 points. Well known women’s campaigners, Agustina Branz & Sofia Tedin, took third on 40 pts, newer to the 420, Pablo Volker & Nicolas Aragones, were 4th on 45 pts and Gonzalo Amuchastegui & Agustin Zappacosta were 5th on 49 pts
After four days of racing, with excellent conditions, the Argentine Championship organized by the yacht Club Olives was finalised. In spite of the cold, there were a good number of participants, and the fleet achieved a good standard. The consistency of the more experienced was noted, but there were also some surprises in the top positions
