Mark Whittington & Scott Sharpe (Western Australia) took the 420 competition by one point from Amy Kivell & Kate Aulich (Victoria) who had led the event until the final day and are the leading women. Brothers, Matthew & Benjamin Taylor (New South Wales) were 3rd, Karl Bromfield & Marcus Conway (NSW) 4th and Lucinda Whitty & Kimberley Wilmot (NSW) 5th and 2nd women’s boat.

Di Pearson of SIRs reports: “A West Australian pair made the podium....when Mark Whittington/Scott Sharpe won gold in the 420 class. The West Australian Youth Development program is coming along well, with many great 420 and 470 sailors making a name for themselves. Kivell is another name we're used to seeing on trophies, and it was no different at SIRs today when Amy Kivell/Kate Aulich (Vic) overcame 16 other female and male crews to grab silver in the 420 double-handed class” [see Sail-world.com]
