1st North/Central American and Caribbean Coaches' Seminar – underway in LA with Jim Saltonstall

Our Globe trotter, José Massapina, reported today from California, “Here in LA, the seminar started today, with 21 coaches from 7 nations (USA, Peru, Puerto Rico, US Virgin Islands, Austria, New Zealand and Mexico). We had a good morning with a theoretical session and in the afternoon we went afloat with coaches and sailors for the practical exercises”.

An Invitation From Holland

The Dutch 420 Class Association would like to invite you to join them at their National Championship. This is being held on the IJsselmeer at Workum, a famous sailing spot and absolutely terrific waters for sailing. This is part of the Dutch Youth Regatta and is a multiclass event, which attracted 610 boats last year. Please look at the events page for details.

The excellent news service from Antibes continues (follow link), but it is now after midnight in Europe on Friday, and the results must have proved a struggle…..something about black flags?! Sofian Bouvet & Nicolas Rossi lead for the home Club after Day 1 (3 races) at CIMA. Maxime Garbet & Thomas Haddouches of YC Mauguio Carnon are only 1 point behind and Yan Holtz & Quentin Dantes are in 3rd. lots of pénalités et reparations in evidence – must have kept the jury busy last night.

Berhtez & Heurley win CIMA 2006; Faria & Cunha 1st women

Vincent Berhtez & Thibault Heurley of SR Rochelaises win CIMA, with two 1sts on the last day and a 9 point lead overall. Yan Holtz & Quentin Dantes of CN Antibes were 2nd, 1 point ahead of Vianney Guilbaud & Cedric Mary of CV St Quentin. Rita Faria & Teresa Cunha of CN Cascais (POR) retained their lead and finished as first women's team.
