Notice of Race is published and Online Entry open for the 2020 420 Men/Mixed, Women and U17 World Championships taking place in Crozon Morgat, France, from July 3-11.

This year we’re celebrating the 60th anniversary of the International 420 Class so we’re preparing a very special World Championships edition, with lot of surprises and increasing quotas for every of countries.

With the Notice of Race published, the online entry is now open for the National Class Associations to register their sailors.

The Championships are only open to International 420 dinghies. World Sailing (WS) eligibility according to WS Regulation 19 is required of all athletes.

Each competitor shall be a member of their National Class Association and, if relevant, of their National Authority.

Each competitor shall be entered by their National 420 Class Association or by their National Authority if such an Association does not exist. All entries shall be made online at the International 420 Class Website: http://2020worlds.420sailing.org by April 30th of 2020.

Registration of coaches/team leaders should be completed using the Coaches online entry system, but payment of the entry fee shall be made directly to the Organizing Committee during on-site registration.

Entries may only be made by each National Class Association using their individual login details to complete online entry. The login details are the same as in 2019 and emails with login details will be sent to the contact details we hold on record for each National Class Association, so please check we have your NCA’s correct contact details at http://www.420sailing.org/default/classinfo

With separate racing fleets for Men/Mixed, Women and the U17 division, the 420 Worlds embraces all levels of competition. To ensure the highest quality of racing, entries are limited by quotas for each division, with nations entitled to send teams as follows:

  • 2020 420 World Championship - is open to teams of all ages. Each nation is entitled to 14 boats, with 20 boats for the host nation. Only Men or Mixed teams are authorised to enter the World Championship.
  • 2020 420 Women’s World Championship - is open to teams of all ages. Each nation is entitled to 14 boats, with 20 boats for the host nation.
  • 2020 420 U17 World Championship - is restricted to athletes aged 16 and under at the end of 2020. U17 team is defined as a team who shall not have attained their 17th birthday on or before 31/12/2020 (i.e. born after 31 December 2003) for both members of the team. Each 420 National Class Association is entitled to enter 12 boats (6 boats men or mixed + 6 boats women) for each country and 20 boats for the host NCA (10 boats men or mixed + 10 boats women). All entries to the U17 World Championship will race in one fleet. If there are less than 30 entries the U17 fleet will be included in the respective of Worlds and Women’s fleets.
