2021 Youth Sailing Worlds - Spain leading now both 420 fleets after 4 races
Great second day of racing for the Spanish 420 teams at the 2021 Youth Sailing Worlds in Oman now leading both the Men/Mixed and Women's championships.
First turn on water this time was for the girl's fleet, starting at 12:00 local time as per scheduled. Overnight leaders Neus Ballester / Andrea Perello ESP (3-1-3-1) could repeat the 3-1 score from yesterday and continue to lead the Women's competition now with 5 points and the best discard. The French team formed by Manon Pennnaneac'h / Victoire Lerat FRA (11-2-1-3) also showed a solid sailing today and climbed to the 2nd place, only 1 point behind the leaders. 7 points now for the reigning 2021 420 Women's World Champions Vanessa Lahrkamp / Katherine McNamara USA (1-9-4-2) on third. Overnight second Camila Michelini / Margherita Bonifacio ITA (2-5-2-14) dropped to the fourth place, just 2 points away of the provisional podium.
The 420 Men/Mixed championship has provisionally changed hands, with the Spanish team formed by Ian Clive / Finn Dicke ESP (4-3-5-1) now on top of the competition with 8 points, followed by Roi Levy / Ariel Gal ISR (14-1-1-8) and Florian Krauss / Jannis Summchenn GER (2-11-2-6) with 10. Overnight leaders Can Erturk / Ali Beren Adamcil TUR (1-4-6-14) are ranked fourth now, sharing 11 points with today's best scorers Zou Schemmel / Jean-Philippe Boudard FRA (6-10-3-2). The reigning 2021 420 Men/Mixed World Champions Tommy Sitzmann / Luke Woodworth USA (11-23DSQ-4-7) hold the 8th position with 22 units.
Two new races are planned for tomorrow, starting at 12:00 for the Men/Mixed fleet and 14:30 for Women's (Oman local time). Remember you can follow all this races live through the tracking system at sapsailing.com
