278 Sailors from 8 Nations race Carnival Trophy
An impressive line up of 139 teams from Austria, Croatia, France, Germany, Great Britian, Italy and Switzlerand competed in the two days of racing for the Carnival Trophy in Sanremo, Italy.
56 teams in the 420 Ladies fleet and 83 in the 420 Open contested 4 races each.
Despite an up an down scoreboard of 13,1,13,1 - two race wins was enough to give the win in the Ladies fleet to Italy's Vittoria Marchesini/Cecilia Fedel on 28 points, second to Veronica Ferraro/Giulia Ierardi (ITA) on 30 points and in third on 32 points were Francesca Russo Cirillo/Alice Linussi (ITA).
A more dominant win with a 13 point advantage in the 420 Open fleet to Greece's Vasileios Gourgiotis/Orestis Batsis. This pair didn't need race wins to secure victory, just a solid performance, compared to their rivals rollercoaster scorelines. Second to Andrea Totis/Marco Zanni (ITA) and third to Nikolaos Mprilakis/Georgios Karadimas (GRE).
