It is all happening in the Southern Hemisphere right now! Argentina…now New Zealand. We have news of 420 racing at Sail Auckland. Last weekend the 420s had two days of a four day series of racing and a further two will be held this weekend as part of the Sail Auckland 2008 Olympic Classes event.

The results from the first weekend are attached. Wade Tresadern & Ben Goodwin have the lead on 19 points, with Frankie Lardies & David Hazard on 21 and, leading women, Sarah & Emma Berry on 31 points.

A scan of the results so far shows that the youth sailors of NZL are very much in business after their across the board podium wins at last year’s Takapuna Worlds and the subsequent migration of many of their most experienced sailors to (or back to) the Olympic Classes since. There is new talent joining some more seasoned 420 teams. We have a short review of developments in New Zealand.
