Nino Shmueli President of the International 420 Class Association visited Fremantle Sailing Club on 11 December to formally sign the Championship contract.
Nino Shmueli, President of the International 420 Class Association, visited Fremantle Sailing Club (FSC) on Monday 11 December 2016 and signed the official contract for the 2017 420 World Championships to be hosted at FSC from 26 December 2017 to 3 January 2018.
FSC Sailing Manager Scott Olney, FSC General Interim Manager David McClelland, and Sailing Administrator Travis Burtenshaw met with Nino Shmueli to sign the 2017 420 Worlds contract with the Club.
“It was great to meet Mr Shmueli to discuss the upcoming event and learn from his experience,” said Mr Olney.
“It is a really exciting time for the Club to be involved in a world class event like this, it will bring people from all around the world to FSC.”
Having visited FSC during the ISAF 2011 Perth World Championships, Nino Shmueli was most impressed with all the up to date facilities at the Club, including the renovated Club and Sunset Deck area for post-sailing catch ups.
“The International 420 Class is massively excited to be bringing the world’s young and talented 420 sailors to Fremantle, one of the world’s iconic sailing locations,” commented Shmueli. “The shoreside facilities here are fantastic and the weather conditions are renowned for racing, so a great Championship is guaranteed.”
