420 WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP SECURES ECO EVENT STATUS
The 2019 420 World Championships has been classified as an Eco Event by Algar, a company responsible for the recovery and treatment of urban waste across the Algarve.
We are proud to announce some of the steps the Organizing Committee has taken together with its partners to reduce the environmental footprint of the 2019 420 World Championships:
Partners:
Inframoura - responsible for all the public infrastructures in Vilamoura, and
Algar - responsible for collecting and treat all the residues in Algarve

The 2019 420 World Championship will have:- A specific waste separation station in the boat park
- Free Water delivery points in the boat park
- Reusable Championship water containers
- Each RIB will be given a specially designed trash container, manufactured with recycled outdoor advertising ’canvas’
- The recycled waste will be ’converted’ into financial support to a local non-profitable institution
In Numbers:
- By using the reusable water containers, we expect to save 19,000 plastic bottles
- By using our special RIB trash bags, we expect to save 15kg of one use-plastic bags
