British 420 End of Seasons marks last of the 2013 Championship Titles
Held at Grafham Water, the CurraDinghy GBR 420 End of Season Championship held over the weekend of 23-24 November attracted a strong turn out of 41 teams for the 7 race series. The Championship marked the last of the major 420 Championship titles which could be claimed in 2013.
Racing on Saturday was around 6 knots and overcast, with a steady 10 knots on Sunday. An intense 4 races back to back, saw Max Clapp/Joseph Burns take two of the race wins. With the discard kicking in after race 4 to wipe out their 8th place finish in race 2, the pair took the overall lead, with Ben Hazeldine/Rhos Hawes just 1 point behind in second on the leaderboard.
Three more races on Sunday, and the day belonged to Hazeldine/Hawes, with a 2,1,1 scoreline to safely take the Championship title with a 9 point margin over Clapp/Burns. Finishing in third were Tim Riley/James Taylor.
Top girls team were Sarah Norbury/Mari Davies in fourth overall.

An interesting post-race social on Saturday followed the theme "Rubiks Cube", with sailors invited to come in green, yellow, red, blue, white and orange clothes, with aim to swap clothes with people and be in all one colour by the end of the night!
Next up for the British 420 teams is squad training in November and December.
