The 2022 Brazilian 420 National Championships concluded this Saturday in Maria Farinha, in the North of Pernambuco.

After 10 races, the boy's team formed by Alex di Francesco / Handrey Cantini (Yacht Club de Ilhabela / SP) were the Overall and Youth champions with 33 points. This was the first time they raced together. Congrats guys!

"It was a very tough championship. We have been leading from the beginning, but it was a tight contest. I started sailing with Handrey only inn the last days of December last year, and we managed to win our first Brazilian title in the class", highlighted Alex di Francesco, who's the only Brazilian world champion of the Optimist class, in 2021. "It was a special experience in Maria Farinha. We're friends with Alex since a long time, but we've only started sailing together now and I'm glad it worked out", added Handrey Cantini.

On the second place overall, the girl's team formed by Joana Gonçalves / Luisa Madureira (Iate Clube do Rio de Janeiro) were crowned Women's National champions for second time. Congrats girls!

Third place on podium for the mixed team formed by Marina Roma / Marcos Arndt (Cabanga Iate Clube / Yacht Club Ilhabela) with 44 units. Well done!

46 sailors participated of this event, organised by Cabanga Iate Clube de Pernambuco.

Most of teams will prepare now for the 2022 Brazilian Youth Cup starting tomorrow at this same venue.
