Imperia Winter Regatta
Imperia Winter Regatta, the traditional winter event organized by the Yacht Club Imperia as usual delivered a perfect event with breeze averaging around 8 knots.
French supremacy in the 420 Open fleet, as Thomas Ponthieu and Quentin Paturir (FRA) conquered the top of the fleet thanks to their two wins and two second places in the 8 race series. An equivalent two race wins and two second places to Hippolyte Machetti and Sidoine Dantes (FRA), was partnered with some higher scoring results to leave them 9 points behind in second place, with a scoreline ranging for a performance best of race wins to their worst of a 23rd place finish. Spain’s Jose Manuel Ruiz and Fernando Davila Ponce claimed third on a 45 point scoreline. Teams from Austria, France, Germany, Great Britain, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Spain and Switzerland were amongst the 85 boat fleet.
Spain topped the podium in the 420 Girls fleet, with sisters Carmen and Julia Davila Ponce taking four race wins, to help them secure 7 top 5 race finishes. They dominated the fleet, leaving Italy’s Carlotta Omari and Francesco Russo Cirillo in 2nd on 20 points and team mates Elena Picotti and Maria Coluzzi in third.
