72 boats arrived at WPNSA for the first of three open & selection events. In addition to the GBR fleet, 420s from France (9), Germany (2) and Ireland (4) crossed the Channel/Irish Sea to compete & to check out Weymouth and Portland, the venue for the 2006 ISAF Youths & 2012 Olympics. Racing was abandoned at 13.00 on Saturday with the average wind speed just below 30 knots & gusts of nearly 40, 4 races were achieved on Sunday, providing a discard.

The event was won by Richard Mason & Daniel Schieber, recently returned from their win at the Vilamoura Christmas Regatta. But only on countback, as they were on equal points with James and Dan Ellis of Plymouth. Hannah Mills & Peggy Webster of WPNSA took 3rd. Tuathal Mac Colg
