Congrats to Griggs and Emery Diemar for winning the 2022 I420 North American Championship this weekend on Miami's Biscayne Bay.

The brothers dominated the 27-boat fleet, taking the top spot by 17 points and throwing out a mere 3rd place in the 7-race series that saw wind conditions from zero to 30+ on Miami's Biscayne Bay.

Samara Walshe/Lillie Foster were the top women's team, finishing 7th overall.

Racing was extremely tight at the top of the fleet, with 2nd thru 7th separated by just 8 points. Of the 7 races, 5 were won by different boats.

Cole and Anabelle Woodworth sailed a consistent regatta to finish 2nd, 1 point ahead of U17 World Champions Freddie Parkin/Thomas Whidden who bounced back from a tough start yesterday to grab two bullets and move well up the leaderboard into third.

Robert Ulmer/Henry Allgeier were 4th, just 1 point behind 3rd, and Kyra Phelan/Timmy Gee rounded out the top 5.

This year saw many mixed teams, including five of the top 12 finishers (2nd, 5th and 8th, 11th and 12th).

Mother Nature threw everything she had at the fleet and RC this weekend, including no wind on Saturday, a mid-day postponement on Sunday - with the fleet going ashore for tornado warnings, and solid breeze for 4 races on the final day of the regatta.

Thanks to Coconut Grove Sailing Club for hosting a terrific North Americans, as they have done for our class for many years.
