You have read the 420 Goes Africa story (well if not, now is your chance!), so now we need to know about their first big Class event.

By all accounts, all the new 420s in SA - apart from one (which, although recently sighted at HMYC, near Pietermaritzburg, is believed to be at its new home at Richards Bay in KwaZulu-Natal) - were at the first RSA 420 Nationals at Zeekoe Vlei YC (Cape Town) last weekend. We hear that the shortage of wind - which recently affected the Kiwis, the Brits and the French (CIMA) championships - also affected the South Africans. But, while we await more detail and full results, the story is that the Izivinguvungu “B” team won, beating the Izivinguvungu “A” team and, in 3rd, the ‘hotshots’ from Boskop (that’s North of the Vaal, toward Johannesburg), Ricky and Brennan Robinson, who seem to do it in Mirrors and the 470, as well as the 420 (they represented RSA at the ISAF Youth Worlds in Korea in 2005). More when we can get the fuller story.
