SUCCESSFUL 420 CLASS CLINIC WRAPS UP IN SOUTH AFRICA
A packed five days of knowledge sharing and skills acquistion under the expert guidance of head coach Michalis Mileos (GRE) and Jose Massapina (POR), 420 Class Vice-President wrapped up today in South Africa.
Hosted at Hermanus Yacht Club from 22-26 September, the clinic attracted well over 20 sailors and coaches who benefited from the opportunity offered by the 420 Class. Scheduled to take place immediately before the South African 420 National Championships, which starts on Friday 27 September, the skills gained over the past days will no doubt boost confidence on the race track.
Today, the morning theory session focused on race strategy and compass work, followed by an on-water session to put the theory into practice. The afternoon session included a mini-regatta to bring all knowledge together in a final acknowledgement of the skills gained.
The clinic closed with a celebration of everyone's achievements and new knowledge acquired, closing with the presentation of certificates of achievement by Jose Massapina.
The 420 Class would like to express our thanks to Stefan Falcon for co-ordinating the clinic in South Africa and the Hermanus Yacht Club for hosting everyone. Thanks to all.
The Clinic was a mix of on-water sessions, lectures, exercises and presentations as detailed in the Clinic Programme and General Conditions for full information. As with all the 420 Class development initiatives, registration to the Coaches and Sailors Clinic in South Africa is free of charge, with participants just needing to cover costs for their travel, accommodation and daily meals.
Thanks to Allen Brothers, who sponsor the 420 Class Development Programme, and provide a full set of boat fittings for every one of our 420 Class Coaches and Sailors Clinics.
