DAY 2 AT 420 CLINIC IN SOUTH AFRICA WELCOMES 24 PARTICIPANTS
21 sailors and 3 coaches have joined the 420 Class Coaches and Sailors Clinic over the first two days, with more set to join as they arrive for the upcoming South African 420 National Championships.
The South African 420 National Championships start the day after the last day of the clinic with teams arriving from across South Africa.
Monday's day 2 of the clinic on 23 September focused on mastering the technique of mark rounding, with how to theory and practice sessions ashore before moving to on-water practice.
Day 3 of the clinic on Tuesday will see 420 Class Vice-President Jose Massapina (POR) kick off with presentations about 420 to the Max videos and the 420 Exercise e-Book of Performance Exercises, before head coach Michalis Mileos (GRE) introduces starting techniques and a masterclass in the Racing Rules of Sailing.
Led by expert coach Michali Mileos (GRE), the 5-day Coaches and Sailors Clinic features a packed daily programme to equip coaches and sailors with knowledge and expertise in the 420 Class, through a mix of shore side theory and on-water practical sessions. Topics will include:

• Running a training programme
• Effective Briefing/Debriefing
• Racing Rules and Race Management
• Video Skills
• Psychology and Physiology

The Clinic is a mix of on-water sessions, lectures, exercises and presentations as detailed in the Clinic Programme and General Conditions for full information. As with all the 420 Class development initiatives, registration to the Coaches and Sailors Clinic in South Africa is free of charge, with participants just needing to cover costs for their travel, accommodation and daily meals.
