OPTIMIST SAILORS TAKE A LOOK AT NEXT STEP AND GET UP CLOSE TO THE 420 CLASS
The #420Class showcase at the Optimist Easter Regatta has attracted a load of interested sailors on our opening day.
The annual Optimist Easter Regatta hosted at Fraglia Vela Riva on the iconic Lake Garda has attracted 1,400 sailors from around the world, and this year counts a line-up representing: Australia, Bermuda, Brazil, Canada, Cayman Islands, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Germany, Great Britain, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Latvia, Lithuania, Malta, Mexico, Monaco, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Puerto Rico, Russia, Slovenia, Slovakia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Thailand, Tunisia, Turkey, Ukraine and USA.
The event offers a fantastic opportunity to introduce the 420 Class and benefits of 420 sailing to sailors, parents and coaches. With a fully rigged 420 on site and 420 Class representative to introduce everything about the 420, there is every opportunity for sailors get up close to the boat and ask a pile of questions about how the 420 Class will deliver for them as they pursue the next step in their sailing career.
The 420 Class showcase kicked off in the boatpark at Fraglia Vela Riva, right in the mix of the myriad of Optimist sailors. As the weather conditions turned - with low visibility and strong breeze - the Optimist fleet returned to shore and headed to the sailors' tent for some down-time and post-race pasta. With the 420 right next to the buffet, it was a perfect opportunity for sailors to take a look at the 420 and find out more about 420 sailing and pick up some 420 goodies.
As the world’s most popular two-person youth dinghy, the 420 Class’ pedigree is well proven, but the choices for young sailors is vast and it is important that they make informed choices as they step into their next boat.
For the 420 Class, the goal is all about sailing a boat which will develop skill sets, challenge helm and crew, enhance teamwork and guarantee fun, thrilling sailing.
Many of the world’s best sailors and superstar names have sailed and raced the 420, evidence enough of its proven role as the perfect transition class providing sailors with excellent skills in strategy, tactics, boat handling, tuning and technique.
The International 420 Class will be at the Optimist Easter Regatta until 31 March 2018.
